First Annual Calabrese Cook-Off
Our First Annual Calabrese Cook-Off on Saturday, April 27 at the American Serbian Club was an action-packed extravaganza! We were blessed to have the Italian Apostolate of the Archdiocese of Newark visit and challenge us to the making of Pasta e Ceci, a traditional Calabrese dish. It was a close battle, with the Calabria Club of Pittsburgh narrowly edging out the Apostolati 24-22 in the voting by the attendees. The Sopressata Tasting Competition was another tough vote, as all of the submissions were excellent. Anthony Cassano of the Apostolati took home the trophy for the best Sopressata.
Following the Cook-Off, we had our After Party at the Pitch on Butler. It was a night for the ages with games, music, and dancing that could not be topped.
A special thank you goes to Jimmy “Big Muscles” Woderak for supplying us with awesome Italian music at the After-Party, and to both venues for having us. We appreciate everyone that joined us in the fun day and look forward to our next events!
